 1.Summary

Sociologists use theories to explain social phenomena, which are the relationships between concepts. These theories explain different phenomena from macro to micro levels, including meso and micro-level theories. The article introduces six main sociological theories, including structural functionalism, conflict theory, symbolic interactionism, role theory, feminist theory, and integration theory. These theories interact to play an immeasurable role in social development, but they also have their own limitations. Learning sociological theories helps us understand social phenomena, analyze social issues, predict social trends, guide social policies, and cultivate social awareness.

2.Interesting Point

The conflict theory emphasizes revealing the unfairness in society and thereby becomes a driving force for social change. This reminds me of the headscarf protest events that erupted in Iran. Countless Iranian women united to protest for their freedom and dignity, ultimately pushing Iranian society towards a more equal and inclusive direction.

3.Question

1. How does conflict theory explain the unequal distribution of power and resources among different groups?

2. Is conflict theory applicable in different cultural and social contexts? Can it explain all types of social inequality and opposition?

Comments

  1. Conflict theory explains the inequality in power and resource distribution among different groups, emphasizing power struggles and interest conflicts within social structures, viewing social inequality as an inevitable result of social structures.
