Deviance is a social behavior that refers to disobedience to a set of established norms accepted by the majority of people in a community or society. In a given economic and cultural environment, any thought or action judged by members of society to be contrary to their social norms or values is deviant.Transgressions include all thoughts and actions of crime, violation of the law, violation of ethical norms, social customs and customs. The understanding of deviant behavior is derived from the system of interpretation in the society in which it occurs.

If the definition of deviance is still open, then the sociological view is important that what is defined in reality as deviance is almost entirely relative. While it is true that certain acts (typically murder) are generally considered wrong (although there are wide differences in understanding among societies as to which type of perpetrator is considered murder), there is still a great deal of disagreement. The extent to which different acts will be considered deviant depends on when, where and by whom.
