 1、Summary

Sociology of religion is a discipline that uses sociological tools and methods to study religious beliefs, practices, and forms of organization. Early theorists such as Durkheim, Marx, and Weber laid the foundations for the sociology of religion, with Durkheim emphasizing the role of religion in social cohesion, Marx seeing religion as an escape from alienation, and Weber focusing on the relationship between religion and the spirit of capitalism. Sociology of religion differs from philosophy of religion in that it focuses more on objective description and analysis than on evaluating the validity of religious beliefs. This discipline explores, through quantitative and qualitative methods, the impact of religion on individuals and society, and the role and function of religion in society.
