Week1.1--video watching blog--LI LINLIN

 (1)

In the first class, the professor gave an introduction to Wikipedia, which was not only about the basic use of Wikipedia or some basic functions, but also a detailed introduction to some sections. Although I took the professor's course last semester, I had some contact and use of Wikipedia at that time, but it only existed on the surface. In the first abridged lecture of this semester, the teacher gave a detailed introduction to Wikipedia again, which was of great help to my study.

Wikipedia covers a lot of areas, and there are a lot of sections, not only articles, but also wikitravel and so on. There are connections between each of them but there are some subtle differences. I hope that through the study of this semester, I can better understand and use Wikipedia, make it a useful tool in study or life, and become a Wikipedia user who provides quality content.

(2) Interesting points:

Wikipedia, as a global editor-at-large encyclopedia, provides an interesting perspective on the power of collective intelligence and group cooperation. Groups of users come not only from all over the world, but also from different cultural and professional backgrounds, working together to contribute and review content through an open editorial system. This model shows how a large-scale, decentralized knowledge production and management system could work. Wikipedia is not only a repository of information, it is also an active community whose members, while adhering to strict editorial standards and citation guidelines, must also deal with the occasional challenge of bias and inaccurate information.

This open and collaborative culture is sometimes subject to abuse, for example, by individuals who may attempt to manipulate or alter information to serve specific political or business interests. As a result, Wikipedia has a complex set of rules and mechanisms to monitor and correct these behaviors and ensure the accuracy and neutrality of the content.

(3) Discussion:

In your daily life, how does Wikipedia balance users' freedom to edit with maintaining the accuracy and reliability of information?
