W4.2 March 29 (Fri) - WANG RUITONG(왕서동)

 1. Summary

Over time, the definition of free cultural works has become clearer. This definition encompasses not only traditional works of art, but also software, data and other forms of knowledge and information. This definition emphasizes the importance of freedom, i.e. people should have the right to freely access, use, modify and share these works.

2. Mention of new, interesting

The free culture movement is a profound transformation about freedom, openness and sharing. It challenges our perceptions of freedom and provides us with a new perspective on knowledge and culture. By redefining the definition of free cultural works and promoting Creative Commons licenses, the free culture movement is gradually changing the way we view and use knowledge and culture. As more and more people join the movement, we have reason to believe that the future of knowledge and culture will be more open, free and shared.

3. Discussion

How do we ensure that the definition of "freedom" is not diluted or misinterpreted, especially in the context of commercial exploitation?

Comments

  1. In my opinion, we are supposed to Establish clear definitions of freedom within relevant contexts, such as intellectual property rights, creative expression, and digital rights. Clearly delineating the boundaries of freedom helps prevent misinterpretation or abuse of the concept for commercial gain. Also we should Establish accountability mechanisms to hold commercial entities accountable for their actions and ensure compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements. This may include oversight bodies, industry self-regulation, and mechanisms for reporting and addressing violations of freedom and rights.
