Another perspective from social scientists defines religion as any endeavor to grapple with existential inquiries. A third perspective regards religion as the amalgamation of collective beliefs and rituals associated with the supernatural.

The article categorizes religious entities into churches, sects, religious groups, and cults or emerging religious movements. Additionally, it introduces the five major world religions: Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism.

The influence of religion extends beyond spiritual realms, intersecting with various social factors such as gender, race, class, education, and health. The process of secularization has significantly impacted the trajectory of religion.
